Cook & Chefs

Welcome to Kebec. Having now arrived at the Port of Kebec within the New World, a Chef seem to think you have what it takes to create culinary delights. Will you Accept?

Being a Cook or Chef is a trades skill that accepts both males and females equally. Only those with an exceptional skill are accepted. Everyone needs to eat. As an apprentice you will learn how to make even the simplest of dishes, but your early training will consist of working in the scullery washing and scrubbing pots and pans.

Being a Chef has a few perks. Becoming a fully qualified Chef, you may choose to experiment with some basic recipes and turn it into something more enticing to the palet, for members of Kebec's more affluent population. Being in charge of a large Kitchen would be the height of success.

Skill Features

For your skill, food comes in many forms. Whether you choose to supply simple rations to the Garrison Soldiers, you will have no shortage of people lining up to eat. It is imperative that you do not get caught serving spoiled food.

As with most things, you can choose what you want to become, So if you should fail to master the basics of Cooking, make your next Choice Wisely, as the word gets around quickly if you Fail Miserably. It is not uncommon for Failed Cook's Apprentice to end up in the streets, with no place else to go.

As a New Cook, your first task will be to get busy and cook something hearty and filling. There will no shortage of soldiers bellies to fill! Be sure to save some money for your taxes! The Guards from the Garisson will no doubt stop by to collect.

A Cook's Life in 1661

Your day will begin and end without much fanfare. Having a full pot of stew to sell mean nothing without clean dishes to serve it on.

As a Cook, you will be expected to be ready to serve something besides bread and water. Shortages are of no consequence to your customers, so making friends with the Farmers and local Butchers will be as important as keeping your fingers busy. Having Family around could be a way to ensure you thrive.

Within Kebec, the Cookr's Kitchen is frequented by many wayward strangers.
