Welcome to Kebec. Having now arrived at the Port of Kebec within the New World, a Master Baker has selected you to become a future artisan as a Baker. Will you Accept?

Being a Baker is a trades skill that accepts both males and females equally. By creating the basic sustenance that everyone needs to live, you will no doubt make a positive impact. As an apprentice you will learn how to make the different kinds of doughs and batters used in creating Breads, Buns, Biscuits, Cookies, Cakes, Crackers, Pastries, Deserts and Sweets.

Being a Baker has many perks. Becoming a Confectioner is the pinacle of a Baker's Skill, often creating such decadent and exotic deserts, cakes and pastries frequently sold to members Kebec's more affluent population, at a tidy profit.

Skill Features

Flour, Bran, and Yeast are the building blocks for your skill, so is the Oven you will need to bake your product. Always keep an ample supply of firewood on hand, or if you can afford it - Coal from the Mines. Without a heat source, you will have nothing more than a sticky mess worth less than nothing except as maybe hog's slop.

As with most things, you can choose what you want to become, So if you should fail to master the basics of Baking, make your next Choice Wisely, as the word gets around quickly if you Fail Miserably. It is not uncommon for Failed Baker's Apprentice to end up in the streets.

As a New Baker, your first task will be to get busy and bake. There will no shortage of hungry mouths to feed! Be sure to save some money for your taxes! The Guards from the Garisson will no doubt stop by to collect.

A Baker's Life in 1661

Your day will begin before dawn everyday. Having a fresh daily supply of baked goods to sell as soon as the sun rises will ensure the attraction of customers to your bake shop.

As a Baker, you will be expected to be open for business everyday. Shortages of flour, bran and yeast are common, so making friends with the Miller will be as important as keeping your ovens lit. Having Family around could be a way to ensure your Bake Shop thrives.

Within Kebec, the Bake Shop is as equally important as the Butcher Shop and Merchant's Store.
